Keep the site ready
Post the fluorescent orange permit card where it is visible from the road. Keep approved plans available at every inspection. Written departmental approval is required before deviating from the plans or permit.
Footing forms must be approved before concrete is poured. Construction cannot continue beyond the foundation-form stage until the BC land surveyor’s certificate is submitted and approved.

Complete the required stages
The table preserves every typical inspection named on the city list for single, two-family and townhouse work. Not every item applies to every project; the inspector and permit determine required stages.
Inspection readiness matters. Occupancy must be granted before the building is occupied. The city also states the building permit becomes void if construction has not begun within six months of issue.
